Who?
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) — Chair, Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs Committee
LISTEN: Laslo & Scott
Ask a Pol asks:
Are we hearing that crypto reform is now on life support?
Key Scott:
“No,” Banking Chair Tim Scott exclusively told Ask a Pol.* “Not at all.”
*Chair Scott has a rule that he doesn’t do impromptu hallway interviews in the Capitol — a self-imposed rule veteran congressional reporter Matt Laslo bypasses by merely talking to Scott on a human level.

TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Tim Scott (10-23-2025)
SCENE: Sen. Tim Scott’s walking through the Capitol’s dingy basement as he makes his way to the Senate floor.
Matt Laslo: “Hey, am I hearing — am I hearing that crypto’s on the ropes?”
Scott’s aide cuts in and passes Laslo her business card.
Scott aide: “Here, if you have any questions give me a call.”
Laslo takes her card while passing her a card but never loses eye contact with Scott.
ML: “You think it’s on life support?”
Tim Scott: “Not at all.”
ML: “‘Not at all’?”
They’re at a distance so Laslo repeats back what the senator says to make sure he heard correctly, which the Senator confirms with a head nod.
ML: “I’ll be watching, sir.”
TS: “Alright, alright.”
ML: “Preciate ya.”
Laslo repeats what Scott said into his mic.
ML: “‘Alright, alright.’”
