Ask a Pol asks:

Anything you all learned from passing stablecoin out of the Senate when it comes to the next heavy lift for this Congress, ie establishing market structure for digital assets?

Key Hagerty

“Yeah, I think the momentum that we're going to build here is going to be widely felt across the industry and frankly, across the economy,” Sen. Bill Hagerty exclusively told Ask a Pol. “We've had an opportunity to condition my colleagues here in the Senate as to the importance of moving on to the 21st century payment system but also to expand their thoughts about the entirety of market structure.”

TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Bill Hagerty (6-17-2025)

SCENE: Sen. Bill Hagerty and aides are rushing to catch a Senators Only elevator in the basement of the Capitol when Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo grabs the senator for a quick update on the road ahead for regulating other digital assets…

Matt Laslo: “Anything y'all learn from this when it comes to getting market structure?”

Bill Hagerty: “Yeah, I think the momentum that we're going to build here is going to be widely felt across the industry and frankly, across the economy. President Trump, I think, is very pleased that we're going to have a bill ready for his signature in very short order, and I think we've had an opportunity to condition my colleagues here in the Senate as to the importance of moving on to the 21st century payment system but also to expand their thoughts about the entirety of market structure. There's still a lot more education to go through to get the needed votes in the Senate, as you know, it's a 60 vote threshold here.”

ML: "Yeah.”

The senator’s elevator arrives.

BH: “So more work to come, but I'm very, very optimistic about the momentum we have.”

ML: "Awesome. Preciate ya, sir.”
