Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), slightly edited for clarity.

TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Ron Wyden (9-4-2025)

SCENE: Sen. Ron Wyden’s walking through the basement of the US Capitol when Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo asks him for a crypto update before the rest of the congressional press corps pounces… .

Matt Laslo: “Senator Wyden?”

Ron Wyden: “Yeah?”

ML: “What do you make of the Trump family digital coins? Does that imperil broader consensus on the issue?”

RW: “It sure as hell does! I've always been interested in crypto. As you know, the first big bill — my bipartisan infrastructure bill — I was the one who said, ‘you’re not going to go after the coders.’”

Laslo nods.

RW: “You know, this is all now being tainted by what really looks like a process that, umm, is designed to help one family.”

ML: “Yeah? Do you think…”

Wyden starts walking towards a bank of elevators — along with other members of the press corps — in the Capitol basement.

ML: “Does that make it harder to negotiate? Like, does that make it a non-starter for you and others? Or is that getting easier?”

Wyden turns to other reporters and their unnuanced questions…

RW: “What’s up?”
