SCENE: Senate Agriculture Committee Chair John Boozman just voted on the Senate floor after which Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo proceeds to walk and hop an elevator as he heads to the underground Senate tram.

Matt Laslo: “How you feeling on stablecoin?”

John Boozman: “I haven’t thought about it lately.”

ML: “No?”

Laslo laughs

JB: “I’ve been trying to get this other stuff done.”

ML: “Yeah? Got a little homework?”*

JB: “How are you feeling about stablecoin?”

ML: “Who knows? So you probably weren’t able to track the kind of market structure hearings in the House?

Boozman shakes head no.

JB: “No.”

ML: “Yeah?”

JB: “I will.”

ML: “Seems like they’re itching to go.”

JB: “Get this done, and then we will pivot to that probably latter part of next week.”

ML: “Do you think — you guys still don’t know amendments?”

JB: “No. No the — right now we’re being hung up by the Durbin[-Marshall bill].”

ML: “Yeah? It’ll be Interesting. Wait — it’s still a priority for [Senate Majority Leader John] Thune and the [GOP] conference?”

JB: “Yeah.”

ML: “Yeah? It’s just getting over this impasse?”

JB: “Yeah. It’s very definitely a priority. It’s something that we’re going to get done.”

ML: “Yeah?”

JB: “We’re just having some bumps to work out.”

ML: “I heard there was as many as like 60 amendments people had.”

Senate tram pulls up and doors open.

JB: “I wouldn’t be surprised. You know, this is something that people want to put their voice to and — but that’s really what, you know, that’s what an open process is all about, so…”

ML: “Yeah?”

Boozman starts entering underground Senate tram.

ML: “I’ll be watching. ‘Preciate you.”
